Erasmus Student Network AISBL (ESN) was founded as an non-profit student organization in 1989 with the aims of developing and supporting student mobility in Europe and beyond. Currently ESN is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, present in 34 countries and 339 Higher Education Institutions and is continually growing.

ESN works for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing the student exchange from different levels, and providing an intercultural experience also to those students who cannot access a period abroad ("internationalisation at home")

ESN is working in Higher Education (HE)

  • offering services to 150.000 students
  • mainly on a volunteer basis
  • with an average annual growth rate of 12,3% since 1990
